How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary texts?
Stereotypically digipaks not just in the soca genre of music display somewhere on it a image
of the musical artist in order for the consumer identify what their looking. We didn’t want to
come with this stereotypical approach as we done research before actually creating. By
using the internet and searching up digipaks and posters of real digipaks from musical artists
And found out that the relationship between a music video and visual representation is very
strong.




                                          Here shows a digipak of a soca artist called Machel
                                          Montana as it displays a picture of the artist and his
                                          names in bold this digipak has chosen to use his star
                                          image as branding as I the majority of his music
                                          video he is the star image so by putting him on the
                                          cover he’s instantly recognisable to many soca fans.
                                          As our music video didn’t have a star image we had
                                          to some how find a way to aspects of the video to
                                          the digipak.



As our video was created without a star image we thought the digipak would work well if we
made that link because we didn’t want to confuse the consumer by creating a digipak with
one showing the artist. The digipak needed to be created and be instantly recognisable, the
digipak was created by using Photoshop it uses the same colour scheme as it does in the
music video with the array of colours and with its bold text displaying the bands name. This
shows branding without the artist but with the format of text and colour which allows the
consumer to relate with the music video and recognise the music. Keeping the pack simply
as we did made it work well with the video with the bright colours and the two little pictures
of the palm trees at the bottom which added subtle detail to the connotations just like the
music video a joyful, carnival hot atmospheric tradition.
This is the advert where we used the same elements
from the digipak but changing it slightly by using
words like “the Caribbean comes to England” by
using this we tried to capture the soca fans and also
many other people as we nowadays many people use
social networking site we added that at the bottom as
people may seem curious and search for it in the
internet as this advert will be generally seen on most
popular internet websites for example you tube.
